Willowbrook Hospice is charity partner for St Helens and Districts CAMRA Beer and Burger festival
St Helens and Districts Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) have chosen Willowbrook Hospice as their charity partner for their upcoming Beer and Burger festival at Ruskin Sports Village from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 September 2023.
The organisation, which campaigns for real ale, community pubs and consumer rights, is hoping to bring the town together for a weekend of great real ale, food, entertainment and fundraising.
Chair of St Helens and Districts CAMRA, Gillian Yates, said:
“Partnering with Willowbrook Hospice is such an honour for us as many of our committee, and no doubt many of our branch members, have had family or friends that have needed their services in the past and have received fantastic care, so we thought we’d work with them to give something back.
“They will be hosting a number of fundraising events at the festival over the weekend, and we will be encouraging visitors to buy tickets for their raffle and donate any remaining money on their beer tokens to the charity when they leave.”
Suzanne Davies, Fundraising Manager at Willowbrook Hospice said:
“We are delighted to be the chosen charity for this new and exciting event. Events like this help us to raise vital funds to continue to provide our high-quality care and support for our local community.”
CAMRA will be looking for volunteers over the coming weeks and months to help out at the festival.
There has also been some initial interest from local businesses and individuals about sponsoring various aspects of the event such as the glasses, t-shirts, festival programme etc. Sponsorship details are available on the website https://sthelens.camra.org.uk/beer-festival and anyone who is interested in sponsorship or volunteering is asked to email beerfest@sthelens.camra.org.uk

Notes to Editor:
- St Helens CAMRA comes under Merseyside and Cheshire region and currently has over 700 members. It campaigns for quality real ale, cider and perry in thriving pubs across St Helens and advocates pubs and clubs as social centres in the local community and promotes the benefits of responsible social drinking.
- Branch meetings usually take place on the 4th Wednesday of the month. The meetings are informal and fairly short and are a great way to have a general catch up with local brewery, pub, and social news – always held at local pubs that serve real ale.
