St Helens & Districts CAMRA Launches the Inaugural St Helens Festival of Pubs

A Town-Wide Celebration of Cask Ale, Community, and Pub Culture – 20 to 25 August 2025

St Helens and Districts CAMRA is proud to introduce the St Helens Festival of Pubs, sponsored by SSO Logistics. This is an exciting new event taking place from 20 to 25 August 2025 in partnership with the town’s brilliant real ale pubs. This is more than a festival – it’s a celebration of community, cask ale, and pub culture across St Helens.

The St Helens Festival of Pubs will bring the town to life with over 30 events spread across some of St Helens’ best-loved pubs, including:

  • 🎶 Live Music Performances
  • ♟️ Chess Tournaments
  • 🗺️ CAMRA’s Legendary Pub Treasure Hunt
  • 🍺 Meet the Brewer Sessions
  • 🧠 Pub Quizzes
  • 🎉 And much more!

Participating pubs include the Cowley Vaults, Cricketers Arms, George, Glass House, The Lamb, Little George Quarter, Royal Alfred, The Sefton, Tipsy Tap, and Turks Head (all subject to change or amends).

Festival-goers will also have the chance to sample over 50 real ales from more than 25 incredible breweries across the weekend, making this a must-visit event for ale lovers and the ale-curious alike.

A highlight of the festival is the 4th Annual Pub Treasure Hunt, taking place on Sunday, 24 August, meeting at the Turks Head at 12pm. Get your thinking caps on and your spy glasses out — this isn’t your typical pub crawl. Expect a fun-filled, clue-cracking adventure with surprises around every corner.

Special thanks go to the main festival sponsor, SSO Logistics, and to PSD (Prescot Self Drive), who are kindly sponsoring the festival beer mats, which will be available at each participating pub. Their generous support helps make this unique community event possible.

The festival is also proud to support Willowbrook Hospice, a vital local charity providing compassionate care for terminally ill patients. Collection points will be available at each participating pub throughout the festival, giving visitors the opportunity to donate and support this essential community cause.

To help visitors stay on top of the action, a live beer board powered by Real Ale Finder will be available throughout the festival at https://sthelens.camra.org.uk/, providing real-time updates on which beers are pouring and where.

Ian Pye, St Helens and Districts CAMRA Pubs Officer, said:

“The St Helens Festival of Pubs is a true celebration of our town’s thriving pub community. This isn’t just about great beer, it’s about bringing people together, supporting local pubs, and creating lasting memories. We’re incredibly proud to partner with Willowbrook Hospice this year, and we’re grateful to our sponsors, SSO Logistics and PSD, for helping us bring the festival to life.”

Whether you’re a seasoned ale enthusiast or simply curious to explore, this is your chance to raise a glass, support a worthy cause, and be part of something special.
