The Turks Head through to the finals of Pub of the Year
The news is out! The Turks Head is through to the final 4 of the Pub of the Year competition.
We are so proud to have so many amazing pubs and clubs in our branch and we’re so delighted to, once again, show St Helens as being one of the best places in the country for good quality real ale pubs.
Landlord, Daryl Arrowsmith said:
“To say we’re over the moon is an understatement!
“We’re incredibly proud to have reached the Super Regional stage of the Pub of the Year Competition, and to be representing St Helens at this level is honestly a dream come true.
“But this isn’t just an achievement for me — it’s an achievement for our amazing team, our wonderful regulars and our incredible local community. Without them, The Turks simply wouldn’t be what it is today.
“We’re proud to be a proper traditional local pub where everyone is welcome, whether you’re a lifelong regular or walking through our doors for the very first time.
“We’re more than just a pub. We’re a place where our community comes together. From St Helens Walking Football Club and the Northern Union Sub Aqua Club to our regular Vinyl Club gatherings, Dungeons & Dragons games, Tuesday Quiz Nights, Poker Nights and monthly Sunday Folk Evenings — there really is something for everyone!”
Ian Pye, Pubs Officer for St Helens and Districts CAMRA said:
“I am delighted to see The Turks Head reach the final four of the Pub of the Year competition. St Helens has a fantastic real ale pub scene, and The Turks Head is a great example of what makes it so special — consistently good beer, a strong sense of community and a genuinely warm welcome.
“Congratulations to Daryl, Deb and the whole team for their hard work in making the pub such a success. Credit must also go to the loyal customers who support the pub day in, day out and to those who continue to champion real ale in the local community.
“I wish them every success in the final stages of the competition and will certainly be keeping our fingers crossed that they go all the way.”
Gillian Yates, Director of CAMRA Merseyside and Cheshire, said:
“I am thrilled to see The Turks Head reach the final four, and it is all due to the hard work of the dedicated staff and owners.
“Customers know that a warm welcome awaits in a pub that only has TV’s in the bar side, encouraging discussion and relaxation while enjoying the atmosphere, food and excellent drinks range.”
The Turk’s Head joins the Countryman’s Inn, Hunton, The Cockpit, Chislehurst and the Tamworth Tap, Tamworth, to battle it out for the overall crown.
